FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT FUNCTION THEORY ON INFINITE DIMENSIONAL SPACES VIII, MADRID 2003 We would like to announce with this letter the upcoming Conference on Infinite Dimensional Analysis, to be held in Madrid from the 15th to the 18th of December 2003. This year we hold the eighth edition of this conference which has taken place in the Departamento de Analisis of the Universidad Complutense on a biannual basis since 1989. The present edition features one important novelty. Special attention will be given to contributed talks. For this reason, several parallel sessions of 20-minute talks will be organized. All participants willing to deliver short talks are kindly encouraged to send a tentative title and an abstract of their talk to the Organizing Committee at the following address (LaTeX or TeX formats are preferred): CONFE_2003@mat.ucm.es Preference will be given to the following fields: geometry of Banach spaces, nonlinear analysis, differentiability, polynomials and multilinear mappings in Banach spaces, holomorphy, hypercyclicity and dynamical systems, and related topics. The Organizing Committee will try to schedule all the applications for contributed talks, but a selection procedure might be necessary if there is a large number of applications. Up to now the following mathematicians have confirmed their participation in the conference: LIST OF MAIN (PLENARY) SPEAKERS: Richard M. Aron (Kent State University, USA).
