MCQT'10 GENERAL INFORMATION

The Madrid Conference on Queueing Theory (MCQT) aims to be a meeting place where scientists and technicians in the field could find a discussion forum to promote research, encourage interaction and exchange ideas. The conference is open to all trends including the development of the theory, methodology advances, computational aspects and applications of Queueing Theory.

The number of participants is limited to 94 Talks. People wishing to attend the meeting should formalize the payment of the registration fee as soon as possible in order to avoid availability problems.

MCQT'10 CALL FOR PAPERS

A selection of papers presented at the conference will be published in special volumes of the journals Annals of Operations Research (AOR) and TOP. All papers will be refereed according to the high standards of both journals. AOR will devote one volume to high quality contributions on the topic "Computational Methods and Applications in Queueing Theory" whereas TOP will devote a special issue to papers which make a significant contribution to the topic "Methodological Advances in Queueing Theory".

GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

A)  Submissions to AOR 

The Annals of Operations Research publishes peer-reviewed original articles dealing with key aspects of operations research including theory, practice, and computation. JCR Impact Factor: 0.619 (2008).

MCQT'10 GRANTS

The Organizing Committee will intend to have a few grants for participants coming from developing countries. Each such a grant will cover local accommodation and registration fee. Grants applicants must send no later than October 30, 2009, an extended abstract (no more than 4 pages) and Curriculum Vitae.

MCQT'10 REGISTRATION FEE

The conference fee is 400 EURO. This fee covers a guided tour to Toledo, the conference dinner, coffee breaks and the booklet of abstract. The fee for accompanying persons is 100 EURO, covering the guided tour and the conference dinner.

The deadline for payment of the MCQT'10 conference is May 1, 2010. After this date the conference fee will be 440 EURO for participants and 110 EURO for accompanying persons.

Registration cancellations must be notified no later than May 28, 2010, for total refund. After this date a charge of 20% will be retained.

The methods of payment are bank transfer or credit card.

HOW TO REACH TOLEDO AND THE CONFERENCE VENUE

The conference will be held at the Hotel San Juan de Los Reyes in Toledo. After your arrival to Madrid (Barajas airport), we recommend you to take the Metro from Aeropuerto stations to Atocha Renfe station. There, you may take the high speed AVE train to Toledo. Detailed instructions are given below.

WHAT TO DO AT YOUR ARRIVAL TO BARAJAS AIRPORT

It depends on your choice (AVE train, bus, taxi, car) to travel to Toledo. In any case, our recommended options to the downtown are the Metro and the taxi. The line 8 of Metro (stations Aeropuerto T4 or Aeropuerto T1 T2 T3) connects the airport with the city. The Metro runs from 6.00 and the last train departs from the head of each line at 1.30. The bus numbers 200 (terminals 1 and 2) and 204 (terminal 4) connect the airport with Avenida de America station. Of course, you can also reach the city by taxi. Taxi fare from Barajas airport to the downtown should be around 30 Euros.

HOW TO TRAVEL FROM MADRID TO TOLEDO

By AVE train (recommended option)

Take the line 8 of Metro at Barajas airport (stations Aeropuerto T4 or Aeropuerto T1 T2 T3) up to Nuevos Ministerios station. Then, transfer to Metro line 10 to Tribunal station. There, you may transfer to Metro line 1 up to Atocha Renfe station. The estimation for this Metro journey is 75 minutes. Price is 1 Euro (single ticket) plus 1 additional Euro charged at Barajas airport when passengers are entering the Metro network.

At Atocha Renfe you should follow directions to AVE train station (5 minutes walk). Reaching Toledo by the AVE high speed train takes 30 minutes. Tickets can be bought either at the AVE train station or online. The price is 9,45 Euros. The AVE train runs from 6.50 until 21.50. For further information regarding the departure times (every one or two hours) and the online booking procedure, please consult the Renfe website

By bus

The company Continental-Auto provides services from 6.00 to 23.00. To reach the bus station from Barajas airport, you may take Metro line 8 up to Nuevos Ministerios station and then transfer to Metro line 6 up to Plaza Eliptica station. The trip to Toledo takes 50 minutes and its cost is around 5 Euros.

By taxi

The price of a taxi from Barajas airport to Toledo should be around 120 Euros. If you take this option, please ask in advance the taxi driver for the final price of the trip.

By car

The distance is about 70 kilometres and it will take about 1 hour from Barajas airport. At the airport, you may find major international rental car companies (Avis, Europcar, Hertz).

WHAT TO DO AT YOUR ARRIVAL TO TOLEDO

The price of a taxi from the train and bus station in Toledo to the Hotel San Juan de Los Reyes (conference venue) is about 8 Euros. Alternatively, if you reach Toledo by bus, you may take bus line 12 from Toledo bus station to the conference venue.

MCQT'10 SOCIAL PROGRAMME

The social programme of the conference is open both to the participants and their accompanying registered persons. It will include a Toledo Guided Tour and the Conference Dinner.

The Toledo Guided Tour is tentatively scheduled for June 29 (Tuesday). The tour will include the guided visit to some of the most emblematic monuments in Toledo: Cathedral, Church of Saint John of the Kings, Synagogue of Saint Mary the White. Due to changes beyond our control, this programme could suffer slight variants.
