I received my Ph. D. degree in Mathematics from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Spain, in 1996. My doctoral thesis dealt with the stochastic analysis of retrial queues with negative arrivals and it was award to the best Ph. D. in Statistics and Operations Research by UCM. I was Teaching Assistant ('Ayudante de EU') at the Department of Statistics and Operations Research I of UCM, since October 1993 till August 1998, and I currently hold a position of Associate Professor ('Prof. Titular de Universidad') at the same department since August 1998.
My main areas of research are focused on stochastic models in queueing and mathematical biology, two areas where I have published several papers, which have appeared in Advances in Applied Probability, Annals of Operations Research, IEEE Communications Letters, Journal of Applied Probability, Journal of Mathematical Biology, Operations Research Letters, Queueing Systems, Stochastic Models, etc. In addition, I serve as an Associate Editor of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research since 2005.
