ABSTRACT

We consider linear systems related to the description of the collision of two solitons for the gKdV equation with quartic nonlinearity. The computations presented in this note are applied in Martel and Merle (Description of two soliton collision for the quartic KdV equation, preprint) to prove a result concerning inelastic (but almost elastic) collision for a nonintegrable equation.
