Toledo  is located 44 miles / 71 kilometres south of Madrid (about an hour's bus or train ride), and is the capital of the Castilla-La Mancha region. It is still easy to arrive from Barajas to Toledo.

By train:

There are usually 10 high speed trains that travel between Madrid-Atocha railway station and Toledo. Atocha is a large station with several sections. The high speed trains to Toledo depart from the 'AVE' section. For more information about AVE system http://www.renfe.es/
Step 1: Go from "Aeropuerto Madrid-Barajas" to "Estación Madrid-Atocha".
Option 1: By taxi. Estimated time: 30 minutes. Time and price depend on traffic and time of the day.
Option 2: By Metro. Estimated time: 43 minutes from "Aeropuerto" station" to "Atocha station". It requires two change of line. More information about Madrid's Metro in http://www.metromadrid.es
Step 2: Go from "Estación Madrid-Atocha, AVE" to "Estación de Tren de Toledo"  Estimated time: 35 minutes. See table below (direct train between both train stations).

By means of an agreement with RENFE, a money-off coupon is available to arrive to Toledo.

By car:
Several rental car companies can be found in Madrid-Barajas Airport. Most of them operate between 7:00 and midnight, though some airport offices stay open for longer.
It takes about one hour and  a half  to arrive from Madrid-Barajas airport to Toledo by car (without heavy traffic).

By bus:

       ALSA buses connect Toledo with Madrid and  run every 30 minutes. Buses start at 06:30, running 
       until 23:00, and later on Sunday and public holidays. They depart from "Intercambiador de Plaza Elíptica"
       at Madrid and arrive at Toledo's bus station.
      
       Step 1: Go from "Aeropuerto Madrid-Barajas" (Madrid Barajas Airport) to "Intercambiador de Plaza
       Elíptica":
       Option 1: By taxi. Estimated time: 45 minutes. Time and price depend on traffic and time of theday.
          Option 2: By Metro. Estimated time: 45 minutes from Aeropuerto station to Plaza Elíptica station.
       It requires one change of line. More information about Madrid's Metro in http://www.metromadrid.
       Step 2: Go from "Intercambiador de Plaza Elíptica " to "Estación de Autobuses de Toledo" (Toledo's Bus
       Station. Estimated time: Between 1 and 1.30 hours. Company: "Autobuses Alsa". Tickets are purchased
       inside the Bus Station at the Alsa desk.
       Step 3: Go from "Estación de Autobuses de Toledo" to Hotel or Edificio Universitario de San Pedro Mártir.
       There are buses from bus station to Toledo's downtown ("Plaza   de Zocodover"), every 10 or 15 minutes.
       From the bus station  you may take a taxi (Radio Taxi 925 -255 050).
